About Terapanth

Terapanth refers to a religious sect of Jainism with two main branches: Śvetāmbara Terapanth, founded by Acharya Bhikshu, and Digambara Terapanth, founded by Amra Bhaunsa Godika. The name "Terapanth" means "path of thirteen," which is attributed to either the 13 religious principles emphasized by Acharya Bhikshu or 13 points of disagreement with the previous tradition by the founders of the Digambara branch. Both groups are known for their emphasis on strict adherence to Jain principles and are part of larger reform movements within their respective traditions.
